A personal journey from Glasgow to Kirkcaldy – and the discovery of a dream home.

Viewforth, Kirkcaldy – 2024

“It is now about six months since I got the keys to my stunning new house at the Viewforth development here in Kirkcaldy, and it has been a busy time settling in and making it home.

You have been my main point of contact since my first interest in the development, along with everything that followed once I reserved my plot. Now that I’ve been here a wee while, I wanted to share with you the positives about my experience, as it’s always good to get some nice feedback. I certainly found it helpful to read about the experience of other clients on the Whiteburn website.

For me a key strength of Whiteburn is very much the sense of a talented and effective team that take care to get it right for each of their clients. It is abundantly clear that all of you take immense pride in creating your beautiful homes.

Having made the decision, following my retirement, to move to Fife all the way from Glasgow, finding the right house in the right place was quite a challenging exercise, and at times it was so disheartening that I almost gave up looking. Then by chance at the end of April 2023 I came across the Viewforth development, and I was immediately drawn to the design and look of the Brodie house. After a visit to Kirkcaldy and seeing the show house along with a few follow-up chats, I knew that I had found the right house in the right place. What really impressed was the high quality and superb finish of the house building. A bonus for me was the smaller size of the development which was nice and compact.

The ease with which I was able to proceed from the early bird reservation onwards was a dream. Your regular and helpful communication kept me well informed about progress with projected timescales.

Sharing electronic copies of the relevant design drawings and ground works for the plot were a tremendous help as they enabled me to develop and plan ideas in advance. It is fair to say that I probably swamped you and your colleagues with queries and questions about many things, but you always got back to me with the answers.

One stand-out feature with the team at Whiteburn has been their willingness to be flexible with clients. You allowed me to make a few tweaks and changes in the specifications for my house, and everyone worked hard to make them happen. It really made things that bit more special, and I thank everyone who went the extra mile to help me.

The same flexible approach applied when it came to making the choices about fittings for the kitchen and the bathrooms and the flooring. There are so many decisions to make, and with the pressure of wanting to get it right for the house, your brain can only cope with so much. Being able to schedule several ‘option’ sessions to manage the choices and decisions was quite a relief, and it also allowed me time to review and reflect on the choices, and on occasion amend a choice or two.

What made a significant difference at this stage was your knowledge of the products in the specification guides and the particularly good working relationship you have with key contacts in the contractors supplying those products. This meant they were quite happy to accommodate the odd request for a wee change here and there.

Then it was just a case of waiting for the house to be completed. As before, regular updates and communication about the progress and prospective completion dates helped me organise and manage timescales from my side. The welcome and handover meeting that you arrange with clients just before moving in day is such a bonus. Having the demonstrations of ‘how to work this’, along with your checklist and well organised home file folder is invaluable. This meeting is also a first look inside the finished house. I recall being quite speechless and in awe of the overall finish that I witnessed, and all credit to the cleaners, the house was spotless and gleaming for moving in.

Charlie, Kenny and their team on site have all been so helpful as I have settled in, and I am very grateful to all of them for their efforts in making the site a safe place to live while construction continues. They all kept me up to date with any works that would impact on short term limited access to my home, and ensured this was kept to an absolute minimum. Their commitment and dedication to ensuring the quality of the development is very much evident.

Inevitably for a new house there have been a small number of very minor snagging issues that needed attention. The ease of logging these small issues to the online portal is straightforward, and impressively they are followed up and attended to extremely quickly. Generally, the overall standard of the house build and the internal finishes are outstanding and without exception all of my visitors have commented on this.

It has been exciting to settle in and get a real feel for the new house. The layout and the design work so well for me, and it’s a fabulous house to live in. It has been a treat to show it off to family and friends who all tell me they can see why I chose to make the move here. They have described the house as stunning and gorgeous. Clearly, I am over the moon with such a positive response from them, but what’s not to love about it!”
